Film and Video

I have extensive experience teaching filmmaking and video production across diverse educational settings, supporting students of varying ages and skill levels. Whether instructing a university-level documentary filmmaking course, leading a television techniques camp for teenagers, or conducting a community arts workshop on camera techniques, I bring a deep passion for storytelling and visual creativity to every learning environment I facilitate.

University level Classes

I had the privilege of serving as a Teaching Assistant for the Second-Year Core Film and Video Production course at York University, where I supported students throughout the entire filmmaking process, from early development and project pitching to production and post-production. In this role, I led three-hour workshops on a range of topics, including:

I’ve had the privilege of being a TA for the 2nd Year Core Film and Video Production course at York University, where I was able to help support students from the early stages of film development to film production and post-production. I led 3 hour workshops on a variety of topics including:

  • Camera and Lighting Techniques

  • Documentary Interviewing 

  • Sound Recording

  • Directing Actors

Youth and Community Arts Workshops

I have also taught introductory video production and camera techniques to children and teenagers at the Living Arts Centre and the Banff Centre. In these camps and classes, students had the opportunity to collaborate on writing and producing their own short films, gaining hands-on experience in various aspects of filmmaking, including:

  • Storyboarding

  • Pitching film ideas

  • Collaborative screenwriting

  • Location scouting

  • Cinematography

  • Blocking

  • Directing actors

  • Sound recording

  • Post-production

It was incredibly rewarding to witness the creativity and teamwork that emerged as students brought their ideas to life on the big screen.
