Personal Injury Lawyer
“Personal Injury Lawyer” is the working title of a new project which comes bursting out of an intense recovery process from a traumatic brain injury I endured in 2022. Since my injury, I have seen specialists in neuro-optometry, audiology, and osteopathy and have participated in testing and rehabilitation processes with mystifying and bizarre protocols.
During one Vision Therapy appointment, I stumbled through a perceptual test called Visual Closure, which instructed my eyes to fill in the missing parts of fragmented images. I chose to fix my gaze on the empty spaces instead. They reminded me of the kind of ruptures in time, spirit, and ability that only trauma can produce. In my research process, I plan to share frustrated images, unsteady eye reflexes and dispassionate gestures, which come from failed attempts to create closure out of chasms. I’d like to ask what it might look like to advocate for a dance full of animate gaps and a performance space where ruptures are respected, witnessed, and responded to with care.
